How to learn...
There are a number of ways to learn to dive and we think you'll agree that joining a dive club is one of the best. If you're interested in learning to dive with our club please get in touch. Before joining the club we will invite you to come along to a few of our club nights or social events. This will give you the opportunity to ask questions and get a feel for the club and the existing membership. If you are unsure about diving you may also be offered a try dive. A try dive is a great way to experience breathing and swimming underwater. Try dives are conducted in a swimming pool with an experienced instructor.
Once you're ready to join we will ask you to complete a short swim test so that we can assess your swimming capability. This will be followed by some basic training using fins and a snorkel. Once you've completed the swim test and the basic fins and snorkel training you will be invited to join the club. Once a member of our club your adventure into the world of scuba diving will begin.
Training is divided into three sections: -
1) The lectures and lecture test gives you the theory behind diving practices.
2) Pool training gives you some of the practical skills required for diving.
3) Open water training is real scuba diving. Your first few dives will be undertaken in shallow sheltered water and all the basic skills that you learn in the pool are developed further.
